Real life sure has been intruding on the news posts lately.

However, the lack of posts should tell you how gung-ho I am about making this one. Chris and I went to Bailey's Taproom last night in downtown Portland. It's a cool spot, right in the middle of all the trendy late night action (we saw no less that 20 limos drive by in our time there). It's nicely decorated and very comfortable.

That's not why I'm excited about it, though. If someone were to build a shrine to west coast craft brewing, they'd have a difficult time being more devout than Bailey's. Their taps are nothing short of incredible. Last night I had Abyss (incredible), Lagunitas Hairy Eyeball (good, but I was expecting something more hoppy), and Beer Valley Black Flag (this was a huge surprise. one of the better imperial stouts I've had recently).

If you're in the area, do stop in. Hell, it's worth making a trip just to go. Make sure you eat beforehand though, as they don't serve anything more substantial than crackers and cheese.

We should consider another trip this weekend seeing as they currently have Hop Rod Rye, Bigfoot and State of Jefferson on tap right now.
I havent actually had the State of Jefferson Stout yet but I figure I should because their Shastafarian Porter was pretty damned tasty and the whole Jefferson State story is quite an interesting read.

Hell yes. We also need to check out this crazy Scottish pub in Oregon City. Evidently they have 100+ bottles of single-malt scotch, a bunch of good local taps, and some cask-conditioned/hand-pumped beers.
Also scotch eggs.
Check it out:
